About Us

A Reliable Frame Shop in Honolulu, HI

Company History

Roy Kimizuka worked as a bank auditor in San Francisco but wanted to return to the islands. His father-in-law, artist Hajime Okuda, suggested opening a gallery and store specializing in art supplies and precision framing. Pacific Gallery & Frames opened in Waikiki across the street from the John Young Gallery and Ansteth (a retail store).

During their years in Waikiki and a couple of locations on Beretania Street, the Kimizuka's business evolved into the premier frame shop in Honolulu, HI. We are pleased to announce our new site and showroom and welcome you to visit. We are located at 1113 Artesian Street, close to Alan Wong's Restaurant, Jimbo's, and other fine establishments in the area.

We can frame everything from simple posters to fine art. "Precision Framing" is Pacific Gallery's reputation: framing using materials and techniques to preserve and enhance the art at hand. Come see why thousands of happy clients continue to bring their precious keepsakes to be framed and enjoyed for a lifetime.

Great Service

The Kimizukas take pride in paying attention to details, such as using archival procedures, selecting glass and acrylic cleaners, hinging adhesives, and even the water used in the hinging and framing of art. We try to do what is best for each work of art to protect it so that you can enjoy it longer. We also like to educate our customers, many of whom are art collectors. A Word from the Owners

"Everyone has similar materials to work with when framing," said Elaine Kimizuka. "But we operate a little differently. What we recommend to our customers is determined by the piece of art itself. We all have built-in respect for art, and the frame should frame it. Respect for art also means using the finest materials inside the frame, which is most important in protecting art. Our frames are beautiful on the inside and the outside."

Happy Customers

"I tend to hold Picture Framing shops to a very high standard and Pacific Gallery and Frames is one of the highest quality framing shops I have ever worked with. I would trust them with almost anything. This is one of the very few framing shops that actually hinges art work properly using Japanese tissue rather then using adhesive tapes. One of the finest shops I have ever worked with."

Seth I. Honolulu, HI

I picked Pacific Gallery through a Google search, and decided to go there after my initial phone call with the owner, Elaine. She made me feel very welcome, provided a ball-park quote readily and was just as helpful with her advice and pricing when I went there. Great to support this small business owned by a couple who give you the impression that they like what they are doing and want to do their best for you. Elaine also impressed me by getting the job done well ahead of schedule--and it was everything I hoped it would be. I would go back there anytime. (It is also easy to get to and parking is right in front of the store.)
